Fiona’s story

HPV is not a death sentence. How did I get rid of him? Could you read the review? I am writing this test review and hope that I will be useful to someone because several years ago, when I was faced with the problem of HPV, I could not find anything intelligible. For the first time in 2009, I learned about the human papillomavirus.

She underwent a comprehensive examination at a family planning centre in Kazan.I didn’t have children at that time, and grade 16 HPV sounded like a death sentence to me. Not believing one test, I decided to retake it at another clinic. Everything was confirmed.

Treatment Plan

After presenting all the test results, my attending physician prescribed treatment (injections, pills), but I had to wait until the menstrual cycle began. Drug purchases for 2009 amounted to more than 5 thousand rubles.

I didn’t wait for the onset of my menstrual cycle; it turned out that I was pregnant. The doctor scared me that now was not the time for children; I needed urgent treatment. At that time, I thought that this was one of my last chances to give birth.

Post-Pregnancy Follow-Up

After giving birth in 2010, I took the tests again, but the analysis was confirmed, this time in the city of Zelenodolsk at the World of Health clinic. The gynaecologist became an experienced and advanced doctor and prescribed me the Gardasil vaccine.

This was the first time I had heard about such a drug, and there was little information on the Internet. It was not available for free sale, only made to order. (The cost of 1 ampoule in 2010 was approximately 5 tr.) I had to administer the vaccine intramuscularly three times according to the schedule. I had an accelerated regimen, as prescribed by the doctor.

Lifestyle Recommendations

Of course, you need to adhere to a diet rich in foods high in vitamins and limit your consumption of refined carbohydrates.

The procedure was recommended to be repeated after five years. I took tests, and nothing was found. And in 2019, for prevention, I took a repeat test. If you have been diagnosed with high-oncogenic risk HPV, do not despair; it is curable. The main thing is to get into the hands of an intelligent specialist.

It’s a pity that the previous conclusions about the virus were not preserved in my hands, only in the medical record.

Watch your health.

Allies’ story of fear

I am for monogamy, permanent partners and protected sex.

Do you know why? Of course, the topic is not one of the most pleasant for me, but I think the more a person knows about HPV, the greater the chances and opportunities to help themselves.

I didn’t make a reservation; your responsibility for your health lies primarily with you, not with your mom, dad, partner, doctors, or anyone else.

I got papilloma during pregnancy. A little above the groin and closer to the thigh. In 6.5 years, it grew to 7mm in diameter. I plan to remove it shortly. Although not dangerous, it carries a viral load and interferes with removing clothes.

During the same period, genital warts appeared on the neck.

My true, painful story

I learned about the HPV test before preparing for pregnancy. If I remember correctly, I had to take the 16th and 18th-grade tests. I handed it in and forgot. Almost 6 years have passed, and I had to think about it again.

Now, every girl/woman who is sexually active must take it. It doesn’t matter whether you are 13 years old or 75. Everyone who is sexually active should test for HPV once a year..

IT IS VERY IMPORTANT!

In 2018, I went for another examination with a gynaecologist accompanied by my mother. She was told that the “minimum for a woman” is a kit and liquid-based cytology. Suppose there are no other complaints. I also got tested.

Analysis

To identify or refute the presence of the human papillomavirus, I took the following tests:

They collected fluid for analysis on a gynecological chair using a dilator and a stick, like a regular smear. It did not cause any unpleasant sensations.

Decryption time: 3 days, depending on the place where you will perform it.

My analysis detected the highly oncogenic type 52. Out of ignorance, I rushed to read everything I could find about HPV in the public domain.  But unfortunately, at that time there was very little information about type 52, or rather none at all.

Based on the above, the doctor concludes whether to continue the diagnosis or prescribe treatment based on these data.

I also had “liquid cytology of the cervix and cervical canal” performed, which revealed no changes.

Liquid cytology of the cervix and cervical canal (review can be found here).

A video colposcopy was performed, which also revealed no deviations or changes.

However, the presence of HPV in fairly decent quantities is not good; tests reveal that the body experiences a constant viral load, and cells multiply randomly. I decided to fight the virus and reduce its presence in my body. Another fact is that you cannot eliminate it; you can only put it into permanent remission, into sleep mode.

Repeating the exams and observing the dynamics half a year after treatment was necessary. Had there been improvements? According to the same scheme, repeated tests were possible only a year after treatment.

This time, I passed a more detailed analysis:

The method of collecting material is the same as in 2018.

Result Options

I don’t have type 52 in this analysis, but I do have 53.

And here the question arises: Remission is type 52, but where does 53 come from? Or was it that in 2018, it was not typed as highly oncogenic and was not present in the analysis, so it was there or appeared again?

Knowing the consequences of unprotected sexual intercourse, I could not allow re-infection.

You will now have to retake the exam in another laboratory to eliminate the possibility of error.

Positive:

  • + early diagnosis (possible pathological changes)
  • + not a big price
  • + not traumatic
  • + fast execution

Negative:

  • – errors are possible
  • – rented every year

P.S.

Both partners undergo a checkup, but the woman’s results are more revealing since her mucous environment makes it more convenient to collect material. In men, tests show that HPV can also cause changes.

Not all variant types are dangerous, but don’t take it to extremes.

Self-healing is possible if the body is free of deficiencies, chronic diseases, proper balanced nutrition, stress, and physical activity.

If your partner is not permanent, do not neglect contact contraception methods. Yes, they do not provide a 100% guarantee, but the risk of infection will decrease significantly.

Suppose you have had unprotected sexual intercourse, anal, oral, vaginal. We take an analysis of all points of contact with the partner.

AND MOST IMPORTANTLY, DO NOT POSTPONE YOUR HEALTH; if you are diagnosed with the infection, do not leave things to chance; contact specialists for qualified help.

That’s why I’m for monogamy, regular partners and protected sex. Our health primarily depends on us.

Thanks for reading.

I hope the review was useful to you.
